Dr. George Lykogiannis has appeared as a piano soloist with several orchestras across the United States and Europe. He was also the top prizewinner in a number of solo competitions in the Tri-State Area, the Midwest, and in Italy. He has had the honor to perform for several dignitaries, including Hungarian Ambassador to the United States György Szapáry (2012), and His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, leader of the Greek Orthodox Church (2004). George Lykogiannis has had the great fortune to study privately with Emile Naoumoff, Alexander Slobodyanik, Boris Slutsky, Paul Hoffmann, and Raffi Bessalyan. He has also played in master classes for renowned teachers such as Earl Wild and Frederic Chiu. Dr. Lykogiannis has performed in respected concert venues such as Weill Recital Hall (Carnegie Hall), and Steinway Hall. He was also a featured artist on WQXR’s radio program “Young Artists’ Showcase”.

Dr. Lykogiannis is currently a dance accompanist for American Ballet Theatre (ABT), the Ailey School, the Mark Morris Dance Group, the José Limón Dance Foundation, Marymount Manhattan College, and Barnard College. He has played for countless ballet and modern dance classes and auditions around New York and New Jersey. In the spring of 2017, he was chosen to participate in the inaugural class of the Dance Accompanist Training Program, run by the Mark Morris Dance Group in New York.

A proficient accordionist, Dr. Lykogiannis appears regularly along the east coast of the United States recording for and playing in various ensembles, spanning a wide variety of genres that include folk, classical, jazz, punk, and world music. He is the accordionist for the New England-based folk group Floyds Row, and tours with them several times a year.

George Lykogiannis has also worked as a continuo accompanist, playing the harpsichord in various ensembles in the New York metropolitan area and New England.

In addition to performing, Dr. Lykogiannis teaches piano lessons in central New Jersey and New York City. With a decade of teaching experience, he has cultivated a dedicated studio where his students receive a rounded musical education with an emphasis on classical piano. He has also successfully prepared students for all levels of the ABRSM exams in piano and music theory. Dr. Lykogiannis is a member of NJMTA and several of his students have competed in local competitions.

Dr. Lykogiannis received his Bachelor’s of Music from Rowan University (2008), his Master’s of Music from Indiana University (2012), and his Doctorate of Musical Arts from Rutgers University’s Mason Gross School of the Arts (2018).
